The ESPN analyst most-liked the gunslinger out of Texas Tech. There were 10 quarterbacks selected in the 2017 NFL Draft, which wrapped up on Saturday night. Jon Gruden’s favorite went No. 10 overall to Kansas City. The ESPN NFL analyst has most of the draft’s top quarterbacks into his “QB Camp” and after he met with all of them, he revealed that Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes was the one he would go with. “I’d take (Patrick) Mahomes,” Gruden said, per 247Sports . “I’d have a lot of fun with him.” Mahomes has the most-special arm of any of the quarterbacks in the class. It was special enough for Kansas City to trade up to No. 10 to get him. Mahomes will sit behind Alex Smith for, presumably, a couple of seasons in Kansas City, before getting the chance to win the job. His style of play has been compared to gunslingers like Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre and Tony Romo. If he can even be half as good as those guys, Kansas City will be happy with its pick.
