NFL Draft Grades: Tennessee Titans – Improving The Offense, Adding Speed To The Roster

It’s hard to tag Western Michigan wide receiver Corey Davis as a “risk” pick in this draft class. But when they chose the rookie with the fifth pick on Friday night, a few jaws dropped and more than a few media types questioned what the Tennessee Titans were doing. Drafting Davis so high might seem like a gamble. Nevertheless, the pass catcher was a need pick and the Titans are starting to show they know what they are doing with their draft process. Thank general manager Jon Robinson for helping to re-establish the Titans as a team on the rise. Adding Davis to the offense gives quarterback Marcus Mariota a weapon on the outside to compliment to the running game. After just missing out on the playoffs last season, Tennessee should be part of the party in 2017. The Titans didn’t just add Davis in the first round. They also brought in Adoree Jackson, a cornerback with speed to burn to help the secondary. Robinson’s time with the New England Patriots as head of college scouting is starting to pay off in Nashville. Based on his pre-draft meeting with the organization, Davis said he knew Tennessee was the place he would wind up. “As soon as I got there, I could tell that they are all about culture,” said Davis, the first receiver off the board when the Titans drafted him fifth overall. “And I’m a culture guy.
