When a brand becomes religion

A discouraged reading for Apple users Richard Stallman has already pointed out a good number of reasons not to use Apple. I feel the urge to add my 2 cents. Apple is more like a religion to embrace rather than a company. “Once you try Apple you will never come back” To my experience Apple users lack of criticism: have you ever heard someone complaining about his Mac or iPhone? Well if the answer is no it is not because Apple products are perfect. Take the last MacBook with usb-c ports only. It is undeniable that such design choice is utterly dumb as far as user experience is concerned. Despite the evidence Apple disciples defend such choice as being innovative: “usb-c is the new standard and Apple is always a step ahead” . Yes. Right. Have they ever heard of backward compatibility? My mouse is usb, my printer is, my phone charger as well. My friend’s external hard disk is usb. Should I thrash the whole lot? Of course not, if I must use legacy devices I should buy adapters, which, by the way, cost hell of a lot. Terrible user experience, brilliant marketing idea. What about the last iPhone with no jack for earphones? Why should I be forced to use bluetooth? “Well if Tim designed it so, it must be right” As previously stated such considerations come from my personal experience. However try annoying your Apple friends with the examples above and see how many of them will admit that their iThings do have defects. I want to conclude w ...
