The Detroit Lions are bringing out the brinks truck for Matt Stafford. The franchise has confirmed that they have signed the 29-year old quarterback to a record-breaking five-year, $135 million contract extension, which is worth an average annual value of $27 million. Stafford, who was selected 1st overall in the 2009 NFL Draft, has completed 2,634 of 4,285 pass attempts (61.5%), compiled 201 touchdowns and thrown for 108 interceptions over eight seasons with the franchise. He was a recipient of the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award in 2011, and made his first and only Pro Bowl appearance in 2014. ...
