Ashleigh Barty, Caroline Garcia to meet in Wuhan Open final

Australia’s Ashleigh Barty and France’s Caroline Garcia will meet in the Wuhan Open final after capturing semifinal wins on Friday. Barty garnered her third top 10 win of the tournament by upsetting French Open champion No. 8 Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia in dominating fashion 6-3, 6-0. Barty finished with seven aces in the match to advance to her third tournament final this year. “It’s been an unbelievable week,” said Barty, who never trailed in the match which snapped Ostapenko’s eight-game win streak in Asia. “We’ve played some really good tennis. I think for us, we’ve been able to play a really consistent level throughout every match. We haven’t had any real drops. Garcia advanced with a 6-3, 6-2 straight set victory over Greece’s Maria Sakkari. This will be Garcia’s first appearance in the final of a tournament in 2o17.
