The Martian is a great movie. As a planetary geologist, I love it. And all the great science done on Mars by NASA space missions over the last decades is fantastic, much of it used to depict Mars in this movie. But the wind on Mars, while fast, is thin and weak, and couldn?t blow a leaf and inch. The huge dust storms are extremely fine sand and Matt Damon wouldn?t even feel it if he was in the middle of one.
