Two of the surprise boys Basketball teams in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference so far this season meet on Tuesday night in a game broadcast live on the HAN Network. Long-time rivals Wilton and Ridgefield both go into Tuesday night’s contest at the Zeoli Field House with designs on making the FCIAC playoffs. Wilton enters the game with a 6-3 overall record and a 3-2 mark in the conference, while Ridgefield is 5-4 overall and 4-1 in the conference. Ridgefield, however, enters with momentum on its side. The Tigers knocked off previously unbeaten Brien McMahon, 79-56, last Tuesday and then took down Fairfield Warde, 67-61, on Thursday . Those victories continued an impressive stretch for Ridgefield, which has won five of its last six games after starting the season 0-3. In seniors Matt Saporito (6’5″), Chase Levesque (6’3″) and Matthew Bartolucci (6’5″), Ridgefield has one of the FCIAC’s most imposing frontcourts. Another plus has been the play of 6’6″ junior Nick Laudati, who scored 15 points and emphatically rejected several shots in the win over Warde, inspring chants of “Porzingis” from the home fans, in reference to the shot-blocking exploits of New York Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis. But the Tigers also have firepower in the backcourt with 6’3″ junior Chris Longo, a force from three-point range.
