Day one results from Legion State

Both the Pierz and Little Falls Legion teams were in action today at their respective Legion Baseball state tournaments. The Pierz Legion team won 3-0 over Dilworth in its first pool play game this morning in Division II Little Falls Legion’s Jesse Mrosla is congratulated by teammate Hunter Swanson after a stellar double play in the outfield in an 8-2 win over Fairmont at Legion state today in Loretto. Legion State action. Nick Herold clubbed a solo home run and Matt Tautges pitched a complete game, four-hit shutout to pace Pierz in the victory. Pierz will play their second game at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning in Le Seur against Glenwood-Lowry. If Pierz becomes one of the top four seeds to advance from pool play they would play in a game later tomorrow afternoon. The championship is on Sunday. Little Falls went 1-1 in the first day of play at the Divison I State Legion Tournament in Loretto. The Flyers Legion lost 6-2 to Hamline Purple (Cretin-Durham Hall) in round one, but then beat Fairmont 8-2 in an elimination game. In the win, Little Falls was led on offense by AJ Jenks who collected three hits and scored three runs. Thomas Miller pitched a complete game to earn the win on the mound and joined Adam Hallberg and Hunter Swanson with two RBIs at the plate.
