CLEVELAND: The Browns are three-quarters of the way to becoming just the second team in NFL history to finish a season 0-16. They fell 27-13 to the New York Giants on Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium to limp into their Dec. 4 bye with a record of 0-12. The Detroit Lions went 0-16 in 2008, and the Browns continue to flirt with matching their futility. The Giants (8-3) let the Browns hang around for more than three quarters but, as usual, they failed to capitalize. They have suffered 15 consecutive defeats dating back to last season. They have lost 22 of their past 23 games and 30 of the past 33. They haven’t won since Dec. 13. The Giants went ahead 20-6 when defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins beat right guard Alvin Bailey, who replaced starter John Greco when he suffered a foot injury late in the third quarter, and strip-sacked quarterback Josh McCown as he tried to throw on second-and-19 from the 50-yard line. Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul recovered the fumble in the air and returned it 43 yards for a touchdown with 10:58 left in the fourth quarter. Robbie Gould missed the extra-point kick. The Browns allowed seven sacks and 11 quarterback hits against the Giants a week after they surrendered eight sacks and 14 QB hits to the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 24-9 loss.
