Vikings defensive tackle Tom Johnson said Sunday he will appeal the $18,231 NFL fine levied against him last week for a hit on Arizona quarterback Carson Palmer. Johnson was fined for a roughing-the-passer penalty on Palmer late in Minnesota’s 30-24 win over the Cardinals on Nov. 20 at U.S. Bank Stadium. “It was B.S.,’’ Johnson said of the fine. “We’re going to appeal it and see what happens and whatever, see what they saw which actually made them fine me.’’ Johnson said he “definitely’’ was surprised by his fine. He had said after the game he considered it a “B.S.’’ call. “If you see the hit, it’s a legal hit,” Johnson said. Johnson’s hit on Palmer came on fourth-and-19 at the Arizona 4-yard line with 1:12 left in the game and the Vikings up 30-24. The penalty gave the Cardinals a first down, but Minnesota was able to hold on to win.
