The Xbox Preview program is about to be replaced

The Xbox Preview Program is about to be replaced by something new: the Xbox Insider Program. According to Microsoft, the program’s new name is meant to reflect how the company is “expanding to offer opt-in opportunities to provide feedback on Game and App Previews alongside System Update previews.” It’s not just the name that’s different, however. For starters, the Preview Dashboard has been entirely rebuilt, sporting a new UI inspired by the New Xbox One Experience. Users will have an Xbox Insider profile card listing off their contributions in the program, and family consoles that have multiple users will be able to participate and provide feedback (so it’s not limited to one profile per console). Perhaps most importantly, however, is that the new Insider Program will soon be open to all Xbox users, not just a select few. All players will be able to test out games and apps. Do note, however, that system update trials will remain limited in scope to those already testing them, and won’t be accepting new members. The new program has already begun rolling out to a small number of Preview Program members. According to Microsoft, those who have “provided the most feedback since the inception of the Xbox Preview Program” will gain access first.
