Help an AI Pretend to Be Human in ‘Speaking Simulator’

In Speaking Simulator , you are an AI who is trying to blend in with the humans and have normal, functioning conversations with them. At GamesCom , I got the chance to try out Speaking Simulator , where I malfunctioned to the point of the humans finding me out. This game is simply hilarious, yet super challenging. As an AI, you’ll need to speak to one of your office colleagues. Speaking, you’d think, is a simple task. It, however, is not for an AI. Looking at the screen, you need to move your mouth out to be bigger or wider, and use your tongue to press buttons in your mouth that match the words you want to say. If you take too long to say the next word, you’ll gain suspicion and start to malfunction. Everything on the screen is controlled with your mouse, so moving out your mouth and then clicking buttons takes place on two different sections of the screen. You need to keep an eye on these sections and the timer if you want to keep the humans fooled. Malfunctions look very much like your robot body is being destroyed – your eyebrow starts to spark, your ear pops out on a spring; clearly you aren’t quite human. I only got to check out the first level of the game, but speaking with the developer, this was just the start. Soon, you’ll have to keep eye contact and move much more around your face if you want to pass as a real human. You’ll even end up talking to more people you know from your very regular human life.
