It’s weird how businesses largely consider advertising an investment a worthwhile expense in building brands, yet see customer service as a cost to reduce. If we’ve spent years hoping that “people want a conversation with brands”, why hide behind “no-reply” emails or worse still, outsource talking to people to bots. With 2.5 billion users around the world (projected to grow to 3.6 billion in the next two years) you would think that every business on the planet would be clamoring for a piece of the action.
