Kemba Walker added his name to the running list of Basketball players that have used their voice to speak out about the recent acts of injustice currently happening in America. Walker used The Player's Tribune as his carrier in a piece entitled "How I Can Help." In the article Walker details the recent statements made by Carmelo Anthony, Michael Jordan and many WNBA players. He wants to be a part of this and use his voice for something bigger than Basketball. "I’m a young player, and I look up to those guys who have made their voices heard," Walker said in the article . "All of us do. And they’re calling on the rest of us to be a part of something that can lead to real change in this country. We need to step up. And there is so much that we can do." In this case, Walker used his platform in an eloquent and understanding way of the situation around the country. He sees himself as a voice for those that can't make their statements be heard. Walker also praised the WNBA athletes for not stopping no matter what the cost. "Recently, many WNBA players used their platform to call attention to the issue of racial bias in America," Walker said. "They wore T-shirts that weren’t sanctioned by the league and staged media blackouts. When faced with fines and criticism, they didn’t back down. They doubled down.
