Most of us can remember an experience of being selected for a team in our youth. For me this was invariably either an ego raising or an extremely deflating experience. When my best friends were the ones choosing I would be selected early and I felt very good about myself, but when others chose and I was less experienced at the sport, the process of getting chosen last and playing the least important position was devastating.
