Liberty Division Series Game 4: Post-Game Notes

Shaun Garceau had just surrendered a leadoff double in the third inning off the bat of the suddenly hot Tyler Colvin, and gave the Baseball a glance. "It was a little lopsided," he said. "But I'm always known for changing the balls out." He asked for another, got it, and induced a first pitch pop-out from Mike Dowd. He got that Baseball back too, and stared at it. Spun it around in his right hand a bit, gave it a glance after he put it in his glove, and prepared to face Anthony Vega. "I was confident going into (facing) Vega," Garceau said. "I threw him a decent pitch and got him out in front, but he kept his hands back, and got enough to get it out." That was the difference in a 2-0 Ducks win on Game 4, a Vega home run that somehow amounted for the only offense either team would muster in the game. It also extends a series that, to the surprise of no one, will go the full five games with Will Oliver and John Brownell both expected to throw on three days rest on Sunday. But before that happens, some attention should be paid to Garceau's outing essentially being wasted, with Garceau ultimately being outdueled by Jarret Leverett despite the latter allowing two more hits. "Everything throughout the year, nothing matters until right now," Garceau said. "It was a decent outing normally, but when we're struggling hitting, I have to put up zeroes and keep us tied longer so we get that first run in. But we'll be good tomorrow." Lose tomo ...
