PBA Media Bureau Injuries and sickness continue to plague the Philippine national men’s Basketball team as June Mar Fajardo was forced to sit out Thursday’s practice. Fajardo, along with Jeff Chan, was on civilian clothes as he watched other 11 healthy players doing their work in a two-and-a-half hour session. Gilas Pilipinas coach Tab Baldwin said that Fajardo has a swollen knee, and hopes that the injury isn’t something to worry about. “I don’t think it’s serious,” Baldwin said. “But we’ll never know. There’s swelling, so there’s something there.” By around 11 a.m., Fajardo had to leave to have his right knee checked up. Chan, on the other hand, wasn’t fit to join the training yet as he suffered a groin injury during Game 6 of their Commissioner’s Cup finals series against Alaska. Marcio Lassiter, another key player, had flu. “Marcio is sick. He texted me early this morning saying he was up most of the night due to flu symptoms. It’s better now because we have our day off tomorrow so that means he has two days to recover. Better for him,” Baldwin said. Baldwin added that Kiefer Ravena left Wednesday night to attend to personal matters overseas. “Kiefer has a pre-planned trip and we knew about this and he’ll be away four or five days,” Baldwin said. ...
