Nvidia RTX 2070 GPU release date, rumours, and performance

Source: www.pcgamesn.com --- Friday, September 28, 2018
The Nvidia RTX 2070 was announced alongside its high-end RTX 2080 brethren at GamesCom in August, but we've got to wait until October 17 to get our hands on the mainstream Turing GPU. I guess you could make do with the monstrous RTX 2080 Ti ... y'know, with your BIG pockets and oversized wallets. But if you want to harness ray tracing to augment your gaming, such as shadows and lighting, but don't have a bathtub full of money lying around to spend on a graphics card, the RTX 2070 is likely the minimum requirement for real-time ray tracing in this generation. It seems unlikely at this point that Nvidia will fit the 2060, 2050 Ti, or 2050 GPUs with ray tracing RT Cores. The minimum performance for solid ray tracing in games is roughly 5-6 Giga Rays per second, with the Nvidia Turing -powered RTX 2070 just hitting the 6 Giga Rays per second mark, and if a cheaper GPU were to release with fewer RT cores than the RTX 2070, the performance just wouldn't be worthwhile. Equally, the volume mainstream segment is incredibly price sensitive, and might not be able to stomach the premium of extra RT Core silicon. ...

Feature: Five Lessons From The Tokyo Game Show 2018

Source: www.nintendolife.com --- Thursday, September 27, 2018
Take note. 2018’s Tokyo Game Show wrapped up last weekend, and we were lucky enough to be in attendance. While PAX, E3, GamesCom and EGX have their own flavour, none of them quite match TGS for sheer uniqueness; perhaps that's a cultural thing - the Japanese do things very differently to the west - or maybe it's because the TGS lacks any kind of surprise factor as the majority of the AAA games have already been seen at other events around the globe. As a result, the excitement void is filled with original content that would perhaps be ignored elsewhere, but can truly shine here. Then there's the cosplay; nobody does cosplay like Japan does cosplay. Read the full article on nintendolife.com ...

Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2070 launches on October 17. Will ray traced games be ready?

Source: allinit.com.au --- Tuesday, September 25, 2018
Everybody expected it when Nvidia announced the GeForce RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti at GamesCom. But Nvidia still pulled off a surprise, revealing the GeForce RTX 2070 at the same time—albeit without any concrete launch details whatsoever. Now, mere days before the slightly delayed RTX 2080 Ti hits the streets, Nvidia has announced release date information for the GeForce RTX 2070. The GeForce RTX 2070 will launch on October 17, Nvidia’s GeForce account tweeted today. The Founders Edition model will cost $599 on GeForce.com , with prices from third-party partners like EVGA, Asus, and Gigabyte starting at $499—at least in theory. In reality, we’ve seen custom cards treat the Nvidia Founders Edition cost as the true price baseline when new GPUs launch. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Dated for October Launch

Source: www.vrfocus.com --- Tuesday, September 25, 2018
Having announced its new range of ray-tracing capable GPU ‘s during GamesCom week, NVIDIA has revealed that the baby of the bunch, the GeForce RTX 2070, will now be released on 17th October 2018. As most of VRFocus’ readers are probably aware, the new range of GPU’s feature the new Turing GPU architecture and the ability to perform real time ray-tracing. What does all this realistically mean? Well speed for one thing, with the RTX series supposedly 6x faster than the previous generation for ray-traced graphics, whilst delivering 2x the performance for traditional titles, so even better for the demands of virtual reality (VR). And as for real time ray-tracing, well that’s a technology to which Jensen Huang, NVIDIA founder and CEO has remarked: “Games will never be the same.” The technology has traditionally been computationally intensive work, with GPU’s tracing beams of light through to generate some awesome looking images. Now the RTX series can handle this with ease, providing even richer and more realistic graphics. Whilst this sounds great developers still need to implement it, and currently when it comes to VR the only videogame confirmed so far is In Death by Solfar Studios. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 will be available in two versions, the Founders Edition at $599 USD (£569.00 GBP) and then the standard edition from $499. Also in the series are the RTX 2080 and RTX 2080Ti . For any further updates from NVIDIA, keep readin ...

New Just Cause 4 Gameplay Shows Its Vibrant World & Wacky Physics

Source: cogconnected.com --- Thursday, September 20, 2018
Just Cause 4 Will Come Out This Winter A GamesCom 2018 presentation for Just Cause 4 was made public on Thursday and it showed nearly 20 minutes of gameplay. You can view the video below! “It’s a game [that’s] built on a conundrum of systems that work at the same time,” explained the game’s director, Francesco Antolini. “So very often the unexpected happens.” The gameplay video showed some of Just Cause 4’s vehicles, its grappling hook, and two of the four different biomes of the game’s world, Solis. The video also showcased the customization system for the grappling hook. The attachments of the hook can be given different mods and, according to Antolini, there are “more than 4 million combinations” for mod loadouts. “This means that, however you’re playing, if you compare your loadout to the loadout of a friend after some hours that you’re playing, you’re probably going to find that they are different, that they have discovered something that you haven’t or that she does something different than what you do and so on,” Antolini explained. “It’s really a tool that has endless possibilities in creative terms.” What did you think of the gameplay video? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below! Just Cause 4 is scheduled to come out on December 4th for the PC, PS4 & Xbox One. Source: attackofthefanboy.com --- Thursday, September 20, 2018
I n August, during a GamesCom livestream, Capcom gave us a look at their upcoming entry into the Devil May Cry series with a release date trailer that showed off Nero squaring off against some insanely impressive big baddies, making use of the series’ focus on style during combat and some impressive camera work, brilliant animations and frequent slow motion to really set the stage. This time Capcom have put the focus back on Dante, kicking off with him at Nero’s demon hunting agency before being called to the “office”, that being leaping around disposing of horrific beasts of the underworld. As with the GamesCom trailer, the star of the show is the style. Everything is over the top and dripping with awesome as Dante leaps around in slow motion wielding an array of weapons that lead to phenomenal animations as he takes on the brilliantly designed foes. The trailer also brings in Lady, a demon hunter from DMC 3 and 4 along with Trish, a demon hunter from DMC 2 and 4 . They seem to be computer controlled characters who fight alongside Dante (triggering many a one liner) and are sure to be unlockable characters in the full game. We also get to see more of Nico, the cybernetics expert in charge of bringing us the most delicious weapons that can be built. She is the granddaughter of Nell Goldstein, the creator of Dante’s Ebony & Ivory pistols. There’s a sneak peek at a new character, V, who looks suitably stylish and is set to be the ...

Nvidia Geforce RTX-series is born

Source: www.fudzilla.com --- Wednesday, September 19, 2018
Review: Ray-tracing, plenty of performance and bright future for gaming Back at a dedicated event during GamesCom 2018 in Cologne, Germany, Nvidia officially unveiled the new Geforce RTX series and the Turing GPU, but only gave a glimpse of what is coming and what it will mean for future gaming, and that future is bright in our book. In case you missed it back then when Jensen Huang took the stage, the Nvidia RTX series is based on a brand new Turing architecture, which, in Nvidia words, “reinvents graphics”, by including some new parts of the GPU, like the RT and Tensor Cores, new AI features, advanced shading, and pushing game development in a new direction and future, one that is not only exciting for gamers but even seem to be pulling a lot of game developers to its side. Despite the lack of competition, which is mostly to blame for every shortcoming of the new Nvidia Geforce RTX series, Nvidia is pushing hard to bring new features, some of which will take time to actually become viable, raising the performance level, as well as pushing game development in a new direction and bringing a new level of graphics and reality to PC games.     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02h_dNl-C-s   Turing architecture and RTX series  Before we get into deeper details, in case you missed the original announcement, the Nvidia Geforce RTX series is based on the new Turing GPU, a gaming-oriented GPU which has elements of Nvidia’s Volta GPU. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti & RTX 2080 Founders Edition Review: Foundations For A Ray Traced Future

Source: www.anandtech.com --- Wednesday, September 19, 2018
While it was roughly 2 years from Maxwell 2 to Pascal , the journey to Turing has felt much longer despite a similar 2 year gap. But finally, at GamesCom 2018, NVIDIA announced the GeForce RTX 20 series , built on TSMC’s 12nm “FFN” process and powered by the Turing GPU architecture. Launching today with full general availability is just the GeForce RTX 2080, as the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti was delayed a week  to the 27th, while the GeForce RTX 2070 is due in October. So up for review today is the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and GeForce RTX 2080. But a standard new generation of gaming GPUs this is not. The “GeForce RTX” brand, ousting the long-lived “GeForce GTX” moniker in favor of their announced “RTX technology” for real time ray tracing, aptly underlines NVIDIA’s new vision for the video card future. Like we saw last Friday , Turing and the GeForce RTX 20 series are designed around a set of specialized low-level hardware features and an intertwined ecosystem of supporting software currently in development. The central goal is a long-held dream of computer graphics researchers and engineers alike – real time ray tracing – and NVIDIA is aiming to bring that to gamers with their new cards, and willing to break some traditions on the way. But naturally we'll see how closely they keep the biggest one: traditional performance in current gaming. ...

Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 vs Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080

Source: www.techradar.com --- Wednesday, September 19, 2018
At Nvidia’s GamesCom 2018 press conference , the company, as expected, announced its latest high-end graphics card : the GeForce RTX 2080 . Since then, we've had time to properly put the RTX 2080 through its paces, and run a number of benchmark tests (and play a number of games) to see just how well it performs. We also want to see how  well it stacks up to its predecessor, the GTX 1080 , so we've compared the new GPU against its older sibling to see how much of a leap in performance the RTX 2080 provides, and whether or not you should upgrade. Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 vs Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 price When the GTX 1080 first launched on May 27, 2016, it sold for $549 (£529, around AU$900), while the Founder’s edition sold for a bit more. With the RTX 2080, Nvidia is selling it for $799 (£749, AU$1,199). Considering the performance leap between the GTX 1080 and the RTX 2080 (which we’ll look at more closely in a moment), this is a pretty impressive amount of power for the money. Of course, it’s not cheap, but we were not expecting Nvidia’s next generation high-end GPU to be a budget affair. Those prices are for Nvidia's Founders Edition of the card. You can also find RTX 2080 cards from other manufacturers starting from $699 (£749, AU$1,199). However, since the launch of the GTX 1080, the GPU has had a few price cuts (when it wasn’t being inflated by cryptocurrency miners), and we’d expect its price to fall further once the RTX 208 ...

Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti vs Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

Source: www.techradar.com --- Wednesday, September 19, 2018
If it wasn’t for all the leaks , Nvidia’s surprise announcement of the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti at its GamesCom 2018 press conference would have been much more of a, well, surprise. Still, it was exciting to see Nvidia tear up its previous conventions and release a Ti flagship model the same year it releases the RTX 2080 . But, how does the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti compare to its processor, the GTX 1080 Ti ? We've now updated this versus piece as we've had time with the brand new graphics card, and have but the two cards through their paces to find out how well they really compare to each other. The GTX 1080 Ti is certainly a tough act to follow, being one of the best gaming graphics cards ever made. It certainly feels like we’ve got the RTX 2080 Ti earlier than expected, but does this mean it’s less of a leap when it comes to performance? Let’s find out. Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti vs Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti price The GTX 1080 Ti launched on March 10, 2017, for $699 (£699, around AU$1,000).  Even by Nvidia’s flagship GPU standards, this was a very high price tag, but for many people the pure gaming performance of the GTX 1080 Ti was well worth it. Because of that, we weren’t expecting the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti to be cheap, which is just as well when Nvidia unveiled its $999 (AU$1,899, about £753) price tag. That’s a hefty amount of cash it’s asking for, so the performance better be worth it. Our full review of the RTX 2080 Ti, when we get our han ...

Mind-Bending VR Thriller Transference is Now Available

Source: gamingbolt.com --- Tuesday, September 18, 2018
After a short demo that launched during GamesCom, Ubisoft’s unorthodox thriller Transference is now available. As a collaboration with SpectreVision (co-founded by actor Elijah Wood), Transference sees players attempting to piece digital memories together. It’s not as straightforward as it sounds though. Check out the launch trailer below. The game focuses on a disturbed scientist’s experiment – a simulation of his memories involving his family. Players will between different perspectives and learn more about what happened to the family as well as what the scientist did to make things this way. Combined with the aesthetic, Transference can be very surreal when it’s not trying to outright scare you. Despite launching for PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, Transference is still playable on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Considering some of the talent working on the experience and just how out-of-the-box this kind of concept is for Ubisoft Montreal, we’re looking forward to its reception. As well as this, the enhanced visuals, the inclusion of VR support and new features only make the game look better. After my hands-on with the game, I was able to talk to producer Kazutoki Kono about the game and the route it’s taking. Here’s what we talked about. Chris Wray : I understand Ace Combat 7 is making a return to Strangereal. When exactly will it be set in relation to the other Ace Combat games? Kazutoki Kono: It’s set ten years after Ace Combat 5 as a story. So the story is based on the history of what happened then and other previous stories. Chris: So in Assault Horizon you allowed for the use of other vehicles. Will this also allow for that, if not, have you increased the number of planes you can use? Kazutoki: As a numbered title we have focused only on fighter jets. Also, because we have designed every aircraft from scratch again, we couldn’t expand on the variety of the aircraft. However, we have created a variety of special weapons for the player to use. Chris: These special weapons. Are they focused primarily on air-to-air combat or also air-to-ground? NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Release Shifted To September 27th

Source: ubergizmo.com --- Sunday, September 16, 2018
NVIDIA announced its latest GPUs during its GamesCom event in August. The GeForce RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti are the new graphics cards that are compatible with the company’s new overclocking tool that simplifies the entire process into a one-click operation. The new graphics cards were set to go on sale come September 20th but the release has been pushed back for at least one of them. A post on the official GeForce forums from a community moderator confirms that there has been a slight change in the availability details of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. The new graphics card will now go on sale come September 27th instead of September 20th. Pre-orders are expected to arrive between these two dates. The moderator also confirmed that there’s no change to the general availability of the GeForce RTX 2080. “There is no change to GeForce RTX 2080 general availability, which is September 20th,” it was confirmed. Customers have had the opportunity to pre-order these graphic cards since last month when they were announced. However, some custom versions such as the RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition were quickly sold out, so it’s not really surprising to see that this high-end card is going to take just a little bit longer to arrive in stores. Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 release date, news and features

Source: www.techradar.com --- Friday, September 14, 2018
Nvidia has at long last announced the GeForce RTX 2080 at GamesCom 2018 in Cologne, Germany, and its a monster of a graphics card. By Nvidia’s own account, the RTX 2080 can be between 1.5-2x faster than the Nvidia GTX 1080 it’ll replace. And that’s not even touching base on the real-time ray tracing this GPU can put out.  If this is starting to sound like you’re next graphics card or we even have you slightly excited about this incredible GPU, read on for everything you need to know about the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080.  Cut to the chase What is it? Nvidia’s next-generation flagship graphics card When is it out? September 20 2018 How much will it cost? $699 (£749, AU$1,199)  Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 release date Now, with all of the rumors and leaks behind us, we know for certain that two of the three Nvidia RTX 20-series graphics cards, including the RTX 2080, will launch on September 20. This means that the products should be available in stores and for general online order on that day, and pre-orders processed today on August 20 (at the time of writing) should ship on that same day: September 20. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 is expected to arrive a little later in October 2018. As for the mobile version, however, it’s more mysterious. We have seen speculation that the mobile RTX 2080 is indeed on the way , but we don’t know when it’s going to make it to market. If we had to guess, we’d pin it somewhere in the first half of 2019.  ...

Techland Unleashes "Brutal Royale" in Dying Light: Bad Blood, Out Now via Early Access

Source: www.ausgamers.com --- Thursday, September 13, 2018
And having played a round or two at GamesCom this year, I can tell you it's actually pretty damn good. And while you might already be baulking at "yet another Battle Royale" game, Bad Blood is more of an exception because it truly shakes things up and goes about it in its own way. And by that I mean this is just 12 people in an open map who need to "get to da choppa!". The only problem is there's just one spot on the chopper, and the only way you take that last seat is through collecting enough blood samples either extracted from infected piles of flesh protected by zombies, or by stealing other players' samples. It's not imperative you actually kill each other at all, but given the nature and make-up of the game, it's highly likely you'll kill each other. Different tactics, however, present themselves through player distraction, hide and seek, follow the leader and more. For example, while one player is taking on, say, a Demolisher and his enclave of common infected, you can sneak into the sample area and extract the sample right out from under his or her distracted nose. And good players can also track the movements of players pro-actively seeking samples, to simply lay in wait for those distractions to manifest. Or, if one player has gained enough samples for a seat on the chopper, you can ignore scavenging for your own and simply hide somewhere in the LZ and attack them as soon as they come for that precious seat. Smart play ...

Warhammer: Chaosbane – First Look Video

Source: www.girlgamersuk.com --- Thursday, September 13, 2018
Bigben and Eko Software has released a commentated gameplay video for Warhammer: Chaosbane taken from the demo at GamesCom. Take a hop, skip and jump to check it out below.     This mission takes place in the sewers of Nuln, the Imperial capital, which have been invaded by servants of the Chaos god Nurgle. Here we meet Warhammer: Chaosbane’s first two playable characters: Konrad Vollen, captain of the Empire and specialist in close combat capable of taking a lot of damage, and a High Elf mage named Elontir with devastating long-distance attacks.   These few minutes of gameplay illustrate the importance of cooperation between different classes that each offer their own gameplay and unique skills. The spells used in this video are just a preview of the 45 skills each character will have available. Finally, a mechanic that is unique to Warhammer: Chaosbane will be revealed: bloodlust. A devastating power that lets you access powerful skills that can change the outcome of a battle.   The first Action-RPG to take place in the world of Warhammer Fantasy Battles, Warhammer: Chaosbane invites the player to plunge into the heart of the Old World, still marked by the Great War against Chaos – a bloody conflict which took place some time before. They will embody either a human, high elf, wood elf, or a dwarf, and discover several iconic locations such as the cursed city of Praag, or the city of Nuln, which was the capital of the Empire at ...

CDPR: Success of The Witcher 3 Gave Us Confidence; Cyberpunk 2077 Has New Animations, We’re Pushing our Engine

Source: wccftech.com --- Thursday, September 13, 2018
Gamers are still reeling after watching the stunning 48-minute long Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay demo shortly after GamesCom last month. The hype for the game managed to get to new heights, and it was already strong to begin with. It’s hardly a surprise, then, that EDGE magazine chose to feature Cyberpunk 2077 on their November 2018 magazine cover. In the article, CD Projekt RED’s Producer Richard Borzymowski explained that the success enjoyed by The Witcher 3 – far greater than the previous two installments – breathed additional confidence into the development team as they moved on to the new challenge of Cyberpunk 2077. It gave us a sense of safety in our own skills. Right now our environment artists are populating a level with the assets, and they are not afraid of testing out new things. This is exactly what we need to stay open to, because personally I believe that The Witcher turned out that good – and why Cyberpunk will turn out really good – because we are not afraid of change. It takes a degree of determination, for sure. From the very beginning we were saying ‘Alright, this is huge, but this is what we want to aim for.’ As producers, we’re responsible for taking this vision and verifying the capability of the team and deciding if we have to change it structure-wise, or if we have to somehow change the content of the game to make it more flexible. The Witcher III wasn’t less complex, but it was complex in a different way. Wh ...

Gamescom Hands-Off: Stormdivers (PC)

Source: www.ladebalken.net --- Tuesday, September 11, 2018
Perfekt poliertes Gameplay trifft auch technisches Know-How.

NAGA VIRTUAL: New Opportunities in the Virtual Goods Market

Source: www.newsbtc.com --- Tuesday, September 11, 2018
In August 2018, gamers met in Cologne, Germany, for one of the largest gaming events in the industry – GamesCom . The fair hosted a perfect mix of renowned game studios, publishers, gamers and enthusiasts from around the world, all interacting freely with each other. Some of the notable entities participating in the event included the likes of Nintendo , Microsoft , and Sony . The GamesCom event is the ideal place for gaming companies to make announcements about new releases, check out the latest trends in gaming, and get more information about what is hot and what’s not. NAGA VIRTUAL graced this event and was part of the team that showcased their products to the gamers and game developers. During the event, it was quite evident that the industry trend is slowly shifting. Traditionally, game publishers made a majority of their revenue upfront through high sales prices. Nowadays, they are looking to strengthen their revenue models by monetizing in-game time by incentivizing gamers to engage in microtransactions. NAGA VIRTUAL has identified this trend and is leveraging it. The company has set up an ingenious platform that acts as a virtual store for publishers to sell virtual products. Think of it as your local store where you can easily get virtual goods, with the gamers on NAGA VIRTUAL also having the chance to trade in-game items with each other. The reception from the gaming community was enormously positive. Most of the gamer ...

ESports isn't a new territory in mobile gaming, but it is a growing one. Gamescom Hands-On: Ape Out (Steam)

Source: www.ladebalken.net --- Monday, September 10, 2018
APE. OUT.

Despite Helping on Skull & Bones, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Team Assures Us That Naval Combat Will Be Different in Their Game

Source: twinfinite.net --- Monday, September 10, 2018
If you’ve seen anything Ubisoft has shown of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, whether it be their 2018 E3 demo, their GamesCom demo or one of the game’s many trailers, you may have noticed that naval combat is back as a full-fledged system for the first time in the series since 2013’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. We recently had a chance to speak with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Game Director, Scott Phillips, at preview event and he told us about how the Odyssey team collaborated with the Skull & Bones team. “Some of our team worked on parts of Skull & Bones [because] within Ubisoft, there’s always a connection,” Phillips said. If you’ve seen Skull & Bones, you know it’s basically an expanded-upon version of the sea traversal and naval combat of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. While Phillips said the Odyssey team hopes to meet the expectations of those who loved what Black Flag was able to do with a ship, he said Odyssey will be different. “Obviously Black Flag is high bar to meet in that experience, but I think the main thing is that we were a different style because we don’t have cannons and we’re not pirates,” Phillips said. “The focus of the combat tends to be more ramming and a little less on the ranged.” In terms of ranged, rather than shooting cannons, players will be commanding sailors to shoot arrows and throw spears. While this system worked like the cannon shooting in Black Flag (or Skull & Bones for that matter), it’s clear that ...

Ensituntumat: Elokuvana alkunsa saanut suomalaispeli Iron Danger vie taistelemaan Kalevalan maisemiin

Source: muropaketti.com --- Monday, September 10, 2018
Muropaketti testasi Action Squad Studiosin ensi vuonna ilmestyvän strategisen seikkailupelin tuoreimman version. GamesCom-messuilla esitelty alfa-version demo saa odottamaan mielenkiinnolla kokonaista peliä. Taaksepäin voi palata aina useamman sydämenlyönnin verran, eli pelaajalla on mahdollisuus kokeill ...

Talking with Eidos Montréal About Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Lara’s Evolution in It

Source: wccftech.com --- Sunday, September 09, 2018
Before speaking to some of the key members of the Shadow of the Tomb Raider development team at GamesCom, I was given the opportunity to play one of their newly designed deadly tombs. In front of the development team. The tomb was centred around what I rather unaffectionately called the “spinning blade death thingy”, a huge totem with a number of blade arms sticking out at various angles. Players had to avoid its arms, then sprint deadly obstacle courses around the edges of the totem to eventually shut it off. It took me quite a while but did give me the chance to explore just a glimpse of the highly anticipated game before it launches on September 14th for PC , PlayStation 4 and Xbox One . Shadow of the Tomb Raider looks to be every bit as big and exciting as the previous games in the reboot trilogy, with a new location and culture to explore in a larger hub. Sitting down with game director Daniel Chayer-Bisson, and Arne Oehme, the level design director, I asked exactly how they’re iterating on the on a franchise old enough to drink in most countries. Why have you introduced a much larger hub space in Shadow of the Tomb Raider ? What happens in Shadow of the Tomb Raider is Lara is seeking this place and expecting to find a tomb and an artifact but instead finds it full of people so we’ve taken great care to make sure they have their own aims, their own life, their own society. They’re not just waiting for her to come to help th ...

Metro Exodus Gamescom Preview – Exploration, Fear and Death

Source: wccftech.com --- Friday, September 07, 2018
This isn’t the first time I’ve previewed Metro Exodus, my first hands-on with the game was in June, just prior to its showing at E3. You would think that I wouldn’t have jumped at the chance to check the game out again at GamesCom, but the second I found out it was brand new gameplay, It was a done deal. I already knew I liked Metro Exodus from that first time, though I was eager to find out and see more. My second time around certainly didn’t disappoint, if only because it started to show more about what we’re likely to encounter in the game. What we do encounter, or at least feel, is a general sense of unease. A feeling that will put you on the edge of your seat. This isn’t something that immediately happens at the start of the level I found myself in. At the very start of this level, I was feeling pissed off. Not at the game, god no. The game was successful. The backstory is simple, I need to rescue somebody who’s been taken by some of the natives of this lush forest area. It gets complicated when you realise that there’s another faction. Its this other faction that irritated me. They call themselves the pirates. They refused to tell me anything, they were rude and they were happy to leave me stranded, alone, and threatened to kill me should I risk entering their territory. I could have tried the more difficult, circuitous route and entered the forest, but the risk of running into a mutated beast didn’t appeal to me. I snuck ...

Interview: Starlink /w Laurent Malville, Creative Director

Source: expansivedlc.com --- Friday, September 07, 2018
Before we started rubbing shoulders with consumers at GamesCom, we were invited to a press event to check out Ubisoft’s brand new IP, Starlink. A full hands-on feature will appear on the site soon, but we also got to chat to the Creative Director of Starlink, Laurent Malville, to ask him about the game and what the future holds. There’s a lot of weapon choices in the game and the ability to mix things up. How do you achieve balance with that as it must be really tricky to keep that flow going throughout? It was actually a super interesting design challenge for us to make sure that all weapons can work together but also the different ship class categories. Fortunately, we have a super talented design team. Which helps. But it’s not just designers but also gameplay programmers and others. We have a super cool and fun design team who are always interacting with one another, playing the game. Somebody is always like ‘Hey, I’ve been playing with those weapons and we should change this.” So we communicate a lot like that. One of the big challenges is that the whole game is playable with the Starter Pack. So you have to account for that. Like you may not have all the different energies and weapons with you. And so we had to balance the game specifically for that. So that having more weapons and more starships and pilots provide you with more gameplay opportunities. But also if you’re playing with the Starter Pack you can achieve pretty ...

FusionPlay Heroes is a card battler with real cards

Source: www.pocketgamer.co.uk --- Friday, September 07, 2018
One of the most intriguing games we played at GamesCom last month was FusionPlay Heroes. A two-player game that mixes real cards with an Android app, FusionPlay Heroes springs from the Imagination of lead game designer Konrad Kunze and his team. Each player gets a deck of seven embossed cards, that come in smart metal tins. You place one device on a couple of (patent pending) plastic stands, also called trays, between you. Then you slide your chosen card under the phone in order to fight. It's quick, smart, and bridges the gap between classic tabletop games and apps. The cards are expensive so it's not a deck collecting game in the traditional sense, although booster packs will be available. We spoke with Konrad Kunze and he talked us through the background. And here's the new gameplay trailer to watch, too! [read more] ...

Gamescom : Control Impressions and Developer Interview

Source: www.gamespace.com --- Thursday, September 06, 2018
As we begin to wrap up our last few thoughts on convention season it’s almost criminal that we haven’t talked about Remedy’s Control yet. The game which wowed audiences and press alike at E3 found itself squirreled away in a tiny booth backstage both when we visited it at GamesCom 2018. However, if I learned anything from our time with Control it’s that even an inconspicuous little space can hold mind-blowing revelations. When Remedy Entertainment sat us down to show us a little of Control, I did not know what to expect. The team’s previous outing with Quantum Break was a masterful piece of storytelling that ended up feeling a little flat. By the time we finished our with Jesse Faden, the main protagonist, it became clear that Control is not likely to suffer from the same passive problems. Control follows Jesse as she takes on the role of Director of the Federal Bureau of Control. This mysterious organization is wrapped up in all sorts of supernatural oddities that seem to have overrun the Oldest House, their primary base of operations. This is where Remedy dropped us into the thick of things. Taking control of Jesse, players entering the Oldest House will find that Control provides much more player agency than previous titles such as Quantum Break and even Alan Wake. The entire world challenges the player, and what might otherwise be just a cool backdrop reveals real character. Like the structure that dominates Stephen King’s T ...

Gamescom Hands-On: Mutant Year Zero (PC, PS4, One)

Source: www.ladebalken.net --- Thursday, September 06, 2018

Exploring VR Open World Title Nostos

Source: www.vrfocus.com --- Thursday, September 06, 2018
One of the properties to be revealed at GamesCom this year that drew the attention of the entire VRFocus team was Nostos . Created by NetEase Games, the colourful, dream-like artwork and Legend of Zelda -like gameplay was enough to catch the interest of many. Nina Salamons takes a closer look at what makes Nostos tick. Nostos has been described as an open world, multiplayer virtual reality (VR) environment. The lush environments have been inspired by the works of famed animation studio, Studio Ghibli, with its beauty defying the post-apocalyptic setting of the story. NetEase Games turned to the SpatialOS simulation technology created by UK-based company Improbable which allows a seamless open world to be created, which will contain a host of amazing locations, things to be scavenged, or built along with specially simulated weather patterns, which can prove to be as much of an obstacle as the enemies you have to fight. While the world of Nostos is beautiful, much of it has been left desolate and empty, with the few scattered survivors struggling to survive. Those who are left face the encroachment of the dangerous and continuously expanding ‘Coralsea’ which threatens to encompass the land and drive the remaining survivors to extinction. Players will be able to explore grasslands, deserts and mountains and discover ancient crumbling cities, which might contain the artefacts needed to safeguard the last remains of humanity and ensu ...

Gamescom Hands-On: Dying Light: Bad Blood

Source: www.ladebalken.net --- Wednesday, September 05, 2018

First Look: 5 Games from Namco’s Post-Gamescom Show

Source: www.ggsgamer.com --- Wednesday, September 05, 2018
Namco’s next batch looks unmissable With GamesCom all wrapped up for another year and none of us here at GGS having made the trip, Namco invited us over to have a quick look at some of their upcoming games. With Supermassive Games’ return to the fray with Man of Medan, Dontnod’s latest IP: Twin Mirror, and the 11-11 Memories Retold from Aardman and Digixart all on show, it seems like player decision was the motif of Namco’s Post-GamesCom show, but have a read and see what we made of the games on offer. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan (Supermassive Games, 2019) Those crazy kids behind Until Dawn, Supermassive Games, are at it again it seems. This time around they’re swapping out a creepy cabin in the woods for a ship in the middle of an ocean – well if the demo we played is anything to by anyway. We only played the opening 15 minutes or so but we saw enough to see that all the things that made Until Dawn a new kind of horror game are very much present and accounted for in Man of Medan. A captain by the name of Fliss is stuck couriering a group of 20-somethings across the ocean to explore a shipwreck and, by some series of events, Fliss and one of her passengers, Brad, are being escorted through a part of the derelict ship at gunpoint. Death Stranding Confirmed For TGS Stage Showing

Source: gameranx.com --- Wednesday, September 05, 2018
There are a few big name expos that happen around the world such as E3 and GamesCom. However, another big showing is slated this month in Tokyo. Known as the Tokyo Game Show, gamers can expect plenty of news to start coming out from beloved video game development studios. One of those big titles that are already confirmed to have some type of unveiling is Death Stranding . Hideo Kojima is a well-known video game developer who has brought out the classic series, Metal Gear . Previously, Kojima was working on a new title for the Silent Hill franchise before the developer and Konami split up. While fans may still be upset that Silent Hills has been scrapped, the focus has since turned onto Kojima’s own studio with their debut title being Death Stranding. Death Stranding was unveiled during E3 2016 and since then the game has had very few details released to the public. It was only during this previous E3 event that Hideo Kojima showcased the first gameplay footage for the PlayStation 4 exclusive title. Unfortunately, this left us with even more questions in regards to what the game will be about. Kojima has tweeted out that Death Stranding will be present for a stage showing at this year’s Tokyo Game Show on September 23, 2018. The only thing that worries me in KH3 gameplay

I want to know if I'm the only one who's worried about this. I've been watching a lot of KH3 gameplay from GamesCom/other events, and every video it looks like Sora is ice-skating on the ground; it really bugs me that he sometimes moves to the left and to the right while still facing forward, like he's sliding instead of running. It reminds me of old games that didn't have collision detection between the character and the ground. I hoped it would be fixed in later videos but that doesn't seem to be the case. Is the reason for this because Sora has to move faster now that the maps are larger? If so, I am the only one who doesn't like it? ...

Lucius 3 Announcement Trailer

Source: www.relyonhorror.com --- Tuesday, September 04, 2018
Horror adventure indie game Lucius is back for a third installment. During all of the hullabaloo of GamesCom, a subdued trailer from Developer Shiver Games quietly arrived. Developers describe the synopsis as follows: “ Lucius is back. In a whole new narrative experience, he now returns to his old neighborhood of Winter Hill. The path will be a difficult one, with trials and tribulations waiting ahead. Has he made the right choices? Is it finally time to end it all?” Where to begin with this trailer…well, there’s an interconnected mystery to solve and lots and lots of death on display here. The violence and methodology seem to be deeply rooted in American nationalism and religion, with American flags being engulfed in flames. Supernatural forces remove one man’s skullcap, while the Ku Klux Klan lynches a black man in the next scene. The trailer seems to imply that due to malevolent influence, violence is escalating and will only intensify if the source is not destroyed. I’ll be honest. There are serious Omen and Children of the Corn movie vibes here. Besides a few frame-rate issues in the trailer and some of the character models looking wooden, I’m intrigued by the story and its artistic palette. Besides, a flame-wielding child never fails to impress.
